This week we welcomed Laguna’s Spitfire Legacy, headed by Founder Scott Booth, to Ontic to share their journey and see for themselves how some of the original Spitfire equipment would have been produced. In return, they shared details of the Rolls Royce Griffon engine – now made into a coffee table and the source of Scott’s initial interest in the project – as well as displaying original gauges and equipment that was recovered when the plane was excavated in France in 1986. The visit proved a hit with self-confessed plane geeks keen who were able to see the original equipment and everyone else who was able to learn more about the history and people attached to this Spitfire.
Thank you to Scott and the Laguna’s Spitfire Legacy volunteers for their time and enthusiasm and we look forward to following their progress as they restore the Spitfire and get her back in the skies by around 2025.
